Fiber Consumption for Concrete - MaxImon - 06-05-2025 Hey folks, I’m working on a small-scale warehouse flooring project, and we’ve decided to go with fiber-reinforced concrete this time instead of traditional reinforcement. I’ve read up on the basics, but still feeling a bit unsure about how to properly calculate the fiber consumption per m³. I get that it depends on fiber type and purpose, but is there some practical rule of thumb you guys go by? I’d really appreciate if someone could share how they approach it on site not just theory, but actual practice. Just want to get it right from the start, without over- or underdoing it. Thanks in advance! RE: Fiber Consumption for Concrete - eno - 06-05-2025 Having worked in construction for over a decade, I’ve seen firsthand how polypropylene fibers can significantly enhance concrete performance, especially when it comes to minimizing cracking and increasing durability. I started using FiberMix https://mixfiber.com/articles/how-to-calculate-the-required-amount-of-fiber-for-concrete products a few years ago after trying various brands, and their fiber quality and consistency really stood out. One of the key things I learned was the importance of following the recommended fiber consumption rates for different concrete applications. FiberMix provides clear guidelines depending on whether you’re working on slabs, foundations, or industrial floors, and sticking to those recommendations truly makes a difference. For example, when pouring a garage floor, I followed their suggested 0.9 kg per cubic meter, and the result was a tough, even surface with no shrinkage cracks at all. The fibers blend in easily and don’t interfere with finishing tools, which was a big plus for my crew. If you’re serious about quality and long-term concrete performance, I’d definitely recommend giving FiberMix fibers a try and paying attention to their dosage charts. |
